Den var baseret p\u00e5 den f\u00f8lsomme chip SiRF Star III<\/mark><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I dag er der komme nyere h\u00e5ndholdte gps’er fra Garmin med st\u00f8rre n\u00f8jagtighed<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> som du kan l\u00e6se om herunder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En lille robust h\u00e5ndholdt Garmin GPS – som Etrex 32x eller GPSMAP serien kan indeholde koordinater til flere tusinde cacher og cacher beskrivelser. P\u00e5 den m\u00e5de bliver du ikke afh\u00e6ngig af at der er mobiltelefon d\u00e6kning.<\/p>\n\n\n

Garmin Etrex 32x<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Nogle beskrivelser overf\u00f8res vha GPX filer<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> til gps’en igennem et kabel fra en computer med f.eks geocaching programmet GSAK<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> og andre har WIFI og kan hente beskrivelserne via internettet fra den forbindelse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garmin GPS ‘en til udend\u00f8rs brug har l\u00e6nge v\u00e6ret fast inventar hos geocachere. Garmin Etrex serien f\u00e5es fra ca 1500 kr hos Effekt lageret<\/a> og en mellemklasse GPS som Garmin GPSMAP 67 koster ca. 3000 kr. Den dyreste Garmin til Geocaching er Montana serien som ligger p\u00e5 ca. 5000 kr hos Marine Torvet<\/a> som i\u00f8vrigt ogs\u00e5 leverer et kort med. Disse GPS’er kan hurtigt blive et godt alternativ til en dyrere smartphone hvis det st\u00f8ver, regner eller hvis du taber den p\u00e5 noget h\u00e5rdt eller i en s\u00f8. Du kan udskifte batterierne n\u00e5r du er p\u00e5 tur hvilket ikke er muligt p\u00e5 en smartphone. Her skal du have en powerbank med. Pr\u00e6cisionen er ret god efter at b\u00e5de GPS, GLONASS og GALILEO<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> satellit systemerne er implementeret i flere af de moderne GPS modtagere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e5 en GPSMAP 67 er sk\u00e6rmen designet til at kunne ses i direkte sollys. Den har ogs\u00e5 fysiske knapper som g\u00f8r det muligt at betjene enheden med handsker p\u00e5 eller med v\u00e5de fingre. Det kan v\u00e6re en udfordring med touchsk\u00e6rmen p\u00e5 en smartphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mange af disse outdoor GPS’er har ogs\u00e5 et elektronisk kompas<\/mark><\/strong><\/a> hvilket er et must n\u00e5r du skal bruge den til Geocaching. De har ogs\u00e5 ,h\u00f8jde- og barometerdata, som kan v\u00e6re nyttige i mere udfordrende terr\u00e6n og i udlandet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
